Second Annual Overbrook Kids Pond Fishing Derby   Saturday, September 11th, 2010

 

The Pond is located near the Rotary Shelter and the South East end of Jones Park in Overbrook, KS.

The schedule for the derby will be:

 

8:30 to 9:00 AM             Registration     all participants must sign-in the day of the event

 

9:00 to 9:30 AM             Guest Speaker(s)

 

9:30 to 11:30 AM           Fishing Derby

 

11:30 AM to 12:00 PM    Door Prize Drawing

 

12:00 to 1:00 PM           Presentation of Trophies followed by a free lunch for participants and parents

Overbrook Kids Pond Fishing Derby Rules

 

1.  All parents/guardians must sign a release waiver before the child will be able to participate.

 

2.  Age Groups will be   ten and under, eleven to sixteen.  A valid Kansas State Fishing License is required for those age sixteen.  No city license is needed.

 

3.  All children 10 and under must have a parent/guardian with them.

 

4.  Good sportsmanship will be followed by everyone.

 

5.  Participants can use only one pole at a time.

 

6.  Participants must supply fishing pole and tackle.  Bait will be available for purchase.  Participant can bring their own bait.

 

7.  NO fishing poles will be allowed in the water until derby is officially started.

 

8.  Participants will practice catch and release.

 

9.  The adult can cast for the child – the child must catch the fish.

 

10. When a fish is caught, find a derby helper and they will weigh and record the catch. Any fish will be weighed if the child wants it weighed.  Contestant must bring fish to be weighed and parent cannot fish for contestant while fish is being weighed.

 

11. Trophies will be given for first, second and third place in each age group.

 

12.  Door Prizes will be drawn randomly and the child must be present to win.

 

13.  Lunch and beverage will be served following the fishing derby. Food or beverages during the fishing derby must be provided by the participants.  Please pick up your trash when you are done.
