City of Overbrook, Kansas – Water & Sewer Rates and Policies

Water Rates (Effective January 1, 2026)

*The rural water charge reflects the minimum 500,000 gallons we must purchase from our emergency backup water source. This fee helps the City offset the cost of maintaining that backup supply so we can make sure to always have safe clean drinking water for everyone.

Annual Adjustments:

• 10% increase effective Jan 1 2021
• 9% increase effective Jan 1 2022 and Jan 1 2023
• 5% increase effective Jan 1 2024 and Jan 1 2025
• Beginning Jan 1 2026: 2% annual increase each January 1

Sewer Rates (Effective January 1, 2026)

How Sewer Rates Are Set:
When the City authorizes a water rate change:

• Sewer base rate = 90% of the water base rate
• Sewer additional 1,000 gallons rate = 50% of the water additional 1,000 gallons rate

Payment Policy

The City no longer charges a convenience fee for credit card or ACH payments made through the City’s online payment portal.
Please note: Your bank or credit card company may still apply their own fees.

Outdoor Water Use & Sewer Adjustments

Do you water outside or fill a pool?
If we can quantify the amount of water that did not enter the sewer system, we can adjust the sewer portion of your bill.
